2008 Canadian Open Poker Championships
Earlier this month HeadsUp Entertainment, based in Calgary, announced the schedule for this years Canadian Open Poker Championships. The 5 day event will take place in the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and will see the main event winner walk away with CDN $200,000, while the runner up takes $100,000.
Kelly Kellner (CEO for HeadsUp Entertainment), who will be hosting the recorded event said; “We’re going to be televising the event not only in Canada, but around the world in Australia, England, Italy and France”.
The allure, of not only money, but the fame that a televised event such as this could bring is sure to attract many players, big and not so big, from around the world. The schedule is as follows:
March 5 – $500 no-limit hold’em – 250 player max – 5% of the buy-in will go to Breast Cancer Research
March 6 – $5,000 no-limit hold’em heads-up Main Event (Day 1) – 128 player max
March 7 – $1,500 no-limit hold’em short-handed – 200 player max
March 8 – $1,000 no-limit hold’em – 300 player max
March 9 – $500 no-limit hold’em – 300 player max
