Sun Poker.com is a greatpoker room. But I must be honest, I wasn't impress with Sun Poker graphics and Cryptologic poker software can be a bid slow.Sun Poker is a poker room that has started to gain some traction among the bigger online poker rooms in the business today.  Like many smaller poker sites, they focus on customer satisfaction through responding to demand for tournaments and providing fine customer service in order to grow.  What can you expect when you visit Sun Poker to play a few hands?  Read on to find out.

Bonuses (Include all Bonuses)

To gain notoriety in such a crowded business, you have to bring the bonuses to attract new players.  Sun Poker certainly makes a valid effort, offering a $500 new player bonus.  This bonus is a 100% first deposit match, but there are a few stipulations.  For one, you aren’t credited the $500 right away.  

You earn $5 for every 5,000 Sun Points you earn, and Sun Points are earned by contributing to the pot rake.  Still, this is fairly common among online poker sites, so it’s not really a drawback.

Tournaments

Sun Poker has focused on tournaments in order to expand its player base, and there are a number of go-to tournaments that they like to feature.  These include $200,000 guaranteed tournaments on Sundays, jackpot sit & go tournaments, rebuy tournaments and more.  Other tournaments include game variations such as Omaha, hold ‘em, seven card stud and more, as well as buy-ins ranging from 30 cents to hundreds of dollars, so everyone can find the appropriate level of investment for them.  The World Series of Poker and other major events are also featured through satellite tournaments.

Software

Playing the software itself is very much what you’d expect from other poker sites, as the available tables are laid out clearly and cleanly, and the playing table itself is also uncluttered and easy to use, with large, easy-to-read cards.  Downloading is quick and just takes a few minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection, and installing is even easier.  The graphics are not flashy and are a bit generic, but are par for the course and the software is comparable to what you’d find on the big name online poker sites.

Player Quality

Considering that it isn’t as big of a name as Party Poker or PokerStars, Sun Poker attracts a good amount of players to their online poker room.  I found about 16,000 on a weekday afternoon, and there are bound to be more on the weekend and nights, too.  Regardless, that’s plenty of players to ensure that there are low-stakes games, high-stakes games and levels in between for all types of players to enjoy.  The level of competition is about average, as lower-stakes players are often beginners in terms of advanced strategy but understand the basic fundamentals.  You can expect a fairly competitive experience at higher-limits, of course.

Rake/Rakeback

The rake is a pot rake that is attributed to each player dealt into the hand, and the VIP program provides rakeback by giving you VIP club points (Sun Points) whenever you are part of a pot rake.  As you advance through the levels, you earn more points, so as a level 1 VIP you earn 23 points for a $1 contribution to the rake, and at level 5 you earn 70 Sun Points for the same contribution.  The points can be cashed back in at a rate of 5000 points for $5.

Sun Poker provides multiple banking methods for players to use, whether you prefer credit/debit cards, e-wallet options or bank transfers.  For instance, they accept Visa, MasterCard, Moneybookers, Neteller, WebMoney, Click2Pay, UKash, UseMyBank, and more.  Most of the methods can be used for instant funding, which is nice, and many of the methods are also valid for withdrawals.
